KLAVIYO SEGMENTATION & PERSONALIZATION

Turn Customer Data Into Relevant Experiences

We organize your existing Klaviyo data into purposeful audience segments, configure reusable personalization variables, and add conditional content rules that help deliver more relevant email experiences to different customer groups.

Service Scope

Klaviyo Advanced Segmentation & Personalization Setup is a fixed-scope service for one business and one Klaviyo account.

The service reviews the customer information already available inside Klaviyo, develops one practical audience strategy, creates up to 12 advanced dynamic segments, and configures a defined personalization framework inside one existing Klaviyo email template.

This service is intended for accounts that already have usable profile, engagement, purchase, or behavioral data and need a more precise structure for future campaigns and automation flows.

Review Your Available Customer Data

We review the Klaviyo data directly relevant to the approved segmentation and personalization strategy.

The review may cover:

  • Standard profile properties
  • Custom profile properties
  • Email consent and suppression status
  • Engagement activity
  • Website behavior
  • Purchase and order activity
  • Product and category information
  • Customer location
  • Signup source
  • Existing lists and segments
  • Predictive information already available in the account

Up to 15 relevant profile properties and metrics are included in the review.

The service does not include repairing an integration, rebuilding event tracking, importing new customer data, or conducting a complete technical analytics audit.

Develop an Audience Strategy

We translate the client’s marketing goals and available data into one practical segmentation plan.

The strategy identifies:

  • The purpose of each segment
  • The qualifying and exclusion conditions
  • The available source data
  • The intended campaign or flow use
  • Consent and suppression requirements
  • Recommended segment naming conventions
  • Important data limitations

The completed structure is designed to remain understandable for future campaigns, flows, reporting, and account management.

Build Advanced Dynamic Segments

We create up to 12 client-approved dynamic segments using the conditions and data available inside Klaviyo.

Segments may be based on:

  • Recent email engagement
  • Subscription date or source
  • Purchase recency
  • Purchase frequency
  • Customer spending
  • Product or category interest
  • First-time or repeat purchase behavior
  • Customer lifecycle stage
  • Geographic location
  • Profile or custom property values
  • Website or event activity
  • Predictive information available in the account

Possible audiences include active subscribers, recent prospects, first-time customers, repeat buyers, VIP customers, category purchasers, cross-sell candidates, at-risk customers, and lapsed customers.

Klaviyo dynamic segments automatically add and remove profiles as they begin or stop meeting the configured conditions. Segment population may not occur immediately, particularly in accounts with large profile volumes or complex definitions.

Apply Consent and Suppression Safeguards

Where appropriate, segment definitions include conditions that distinguish marketable subscribers from suppressed or otherwise ineligible profiles.

These safeguards reduce the risk of accidentally using a broad behavioral or customer segment as a sendable marketing audience without considering the profile’s current channel consent status.

The client remains responsible for approving the intended audience and confirming that its marketing practices comply with applicable requirements.

Use Behavioral and Purchase Data

Where functioning integrations and metrics are already available, segments can use customer actions such as:

  • Viewed Product
  • Added to Cart
  • Started Checkout
  • Placed Order
  • Ordered Product
  • Opened Email
  • Clicked Email
  • Submitted Form
  • Other existing account events

The exact metrics and properties used depend on the integrations, tracking, account history, and data currently available in the client’s Klaviyo account.

Creation of new custom events, API tracking, server-side tracking, or integration repairs requires a separate service.

Use Predictive Data When Available

If the client’s account already qualifies for Klaviyo predictive analytics, available predictive data may be incorporated into approved segments.

This may include predicted customer lifetime value, expected purchase timing, churn risk, or other predictive information displayed inside the account.

Predictive functionality is subject to Klaviyo’s eligibility requirements and the quantity, quality, and history of the client’s order data. Enabling predictive analytics or guaranteeing its availability is not included.

Configure Personalization Variables

We configure and document up to six approved personalization variables using profile information already available inside Klaviyo.

Personalization may include:

  • First name
  • Customer location
  • Customer type
  • Loyalty or membership tier
  • Product interest
  • Preferred category
  • Signup source
  • Other approved profile information

Appropriate fallback values are added where supported so recipients with missing information do not receive visibly incomplete text.

Personalization tags are case-sensitive and depend on the referenced property name and value being stored correctly on each recipient’s profile.

Add Conditional Content Rules

We configure native show/hide logic for up to four content blocks or sections inside one existing Klaviyo email template.

Conditional content can display different messages, offers, recommendations, or calls to action based on approved profile or custom property values.

For example, an email may show:

  • Different content for customers and prospects
  • A VIP section for qualified customers
  • Location-specific information
  • Category-specific messaging
  • Loyalty-tier content
  • A different call to action based on customer status

The client must provide the final approved content and creative assets for every version. Full template design, copywriting, custom HTML, complex Django development, and dynamic product-feed construction are not included.

Event-Based Personalization

Event information may be used only when the selected message is located inside a compatible metric-triggered flow and and the required event data already exists in Klaviyo.

Campaign templates and standard profile-based messages do not automatically have access to flow-trigger event variables.

Creation or modification of the underlying automation flow is not included in this service.

Preview and Test the Setup

We preview the configured personalization and conditional content using up to five client-approved profile scenarios.

Testing reviews:

  • Segment qualification
  • Personalization values
  • Fallback values
  • Conditional block visibility
  • Missing property behavior
  • Obvious configuration errors

Testing is performed using the information visible inside Klaviyo. Dedicated cross-device inbox rendering, third-party email testing platforms, accessibility certification, and deliverability testing are not included.

Implementation Summary

The client receives a concise implementation summary identifying:

  • The data reviewed
  • The audience strategy applied
  • The segments created
  • The definition and purpose of each segment
  • The personalization variables configured
  • The fallback values used
  • The conditional content rules added
  • Known data limitations
  • Recommended future uses

The Klaviyo account, profiles, segments, customer data, templates, and associated business assets remain owned and controlled by the client.
