KLAVIYO BACK-IN-STOCK AUTOMATION

Bring Interested Shoppers Back When Products Return

Add a branded Notify Me experience to unavailable product pages, capture customer interest by product or variant, and automatically send an accurate restock notification when inventory becomes available again.

Service Scope

Klaviyo Back-in-Stock Flow Setup is a fixed-scope implementation service for one business, one Klaviyo account, and one connected Shopify or BigCommerce store.

The service includes one branded back-in-stock button and signup form, one Klaviyo back-in-stock flow, one customized restock notification email, inventory-notification settings, storefront testing, activation, and implementation handoff.

This package is email-only and uses Klaviyo’s native Back-in-Stock form builder. Implementations for Magento, PrestaShop, Shopware, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, custom catalogs, APIs, or other platforms require a separately defined scope.

Klaviyo does not currently list WooCommerce among its standard supported Back-in-Stock platforms, so WooCommerce implementation is not included in this fixed package.

Review Platform and Inventory Readiness

We review the existing Klaviyo ecommerce integration and confirm that the connected store can support the native Back-in-Stock feature.

The review covers:

  • Connected Shopify or BigCommerce store
  • Product catalog synchronization
  • Product and variant inventory data
  • Out-of-stock product behavior
  • Existing Back-in-Stock forms or code
  • Available Klaviyo event data
  • Storefront theme compatibility
  • One client-selected test product

The client’s catalog and inventory must already synchronize correctly with Klaviyo. Ecommerce integration installation, catalog reconstruction, inventory-system repair, and custom product-feed development are not included.

Configure the Notify Me Button

We configure one native Klaviyo Back-in-Stock button that appears on qualifying unavailable product pages.

The button configuration may include:

  • Approved button text
  • Brand colors
  • Font styling
  • Button size and alignment
  • Border and corner styling
  • Basic placement settings
  • Desktop and mobile presentation

The button is designed to appear when a supported product or variant becomes unavailable and disappear when the product becomes available again.

Advanced theme development, custom product-page reconstruction, third-party page-builder repair, and different button designs for multiple product templates are not included.

Build the Back-in-Stock Form

We create and customize one Klaviyo Back-in-Stock form connected to the approved storefront button.

The form may include:

  • Email address field
  • Product-specific notification request
  • Approved heading and supporting text
  • Submit button
  • Success confirmation
  • Brand colors and typography
  • Required privacy or disclosure link
  • Optional promotional email opt-in checkbox

A request for a restock alert does not automatically represent general marketing consent. When the client wants to collect promotional email subscribers, the optional marketing opt-in element is configured separately using the client-approved list and disclosure language.

Klaviyo permits only one Back-in-Stock form in an account at a time. If an existing form is present, it may need to be removed or replaced before the new form can be created.

Remove Standard Legacy Code When Required

If a previous Klaviyo Back-in-Stock code snippet is visibly creating a duplicate button or form, we review the installation and remove one identifiable standard legacy snippet when it can be safely located.

The service does not include extensive theme-code investigation, repair of third-party Back-in-Stock applications, removal of undocumented custom scripts, or reconstruction of modified theme files.

The client is responsible for maintaining an appropriate theme backup or published-theme copy before code-related changes are approved.

Configure the Flow Trigger

We create one Klaviyo flow using the platform-specific Subscribed to Back in Stock event.

When a shopper submits the form for an unavailable product or variant, Klaviyo records the subscription event and places that shopper into the Back-in-Stock flow.

The standard Klaviyo configuration does not require conventional trigger or profile filters for this flow. The subscription event identifies the requested item and connects the shopper to the appropriate inventory notification.

Custom event development and alternative triggers are not included.

Configure the Back in Stock Delay

We add and configure Klaviyo’s dedicated Back in Stock delay directly after the flow trigger.

Customers remain at this delay until Klaviyo detects that their requested product or variant has met the approved inventory conditions. Eligible customers then proceed to the notification email.

This specialized component replaces a conventional time delay. The package does not add unnecessary hourly or daily delays before the primary restock notification.

Configure Inventory Notification Rules

We configure the available account-level Back-in-Stock settings according to the client’s approved inventory strategy.

The settings include:

  • Minimum restock inventory
  • Notification quantity
  • Notify-all or batch-notification preference
  • Number of customers notified per available unit
  • Waiting period between notification batches

These settings help prevent the store from notifying more interested shoppers than the available inventory can reasonably support.

Back-in-Stock settings operate at the Klaviyo account level and may affect every Back-in-Stock flow in that account. Final settings require client approval before activation.

Inventory forecasting, warehouse strategy, purchasing decisions, and multichannel inventory reconciliation are not included.

Design the Restock Notification Email

We create one branded restock notification email inside Klaviyo.

The email includes:

  • Approved subject line
  • Preview text
  • Branded header and layout
  • Clear restock announcement
  • Dynamic product or variant information
  • Product image
  • Current product title
  • Available price information
  • Product-page link
  • Primary shop-now call to action
  • Footer and unsubscribe review
  • Desktop and mobile optimization

The email uses Klaviyo’s specialized Back-in-Stock variables to retrieve current catalog information at send time. This helps ensure that product details reflect the latest synchronized information rather than details stored when the shopper originally requested the alert.

New product photography, advanced image production, custom-coded HTML, and multiple creative email versions are not included.

Review Email Settings

We review the essential configuration for the included notification email.

This includes:

  • From name
  • From email address
  • Reply-to address
  • Subject line
  • Preview text
  • Link destinations
  • UTM tracking preferences
  • Marketing eligibility
  • Unsubscribe functionality
  • Message status

Smart Sending is normally disabled for the primary restock notification because the customer specifically requested an alert for that product. Final settings are configured according to the approved implementation.

Sending-domain authentication and broader deliverability configuration are separate services.

Test the Storefront Experience

We test the completed Back-in-Stock experience using one approved unavailable product or variant.

Testing covers:

  • Notify Me button visibility
  • Form opening behavior
  • Email submission
  • Success confirmation
  • Subscribed to Back in Stock event creation
  • Product or variant association
  • Flow entry
  • Back in Stock delay placement
  • Dynamic email content
  • Product link destination
  • Desktop and mobile presentation

Testing may require temporarily adjusting the inventory status of a client-approved test product. The client must approve any inventory change before it is made.

For Shopify stores, products configured to continue selling when out of stock may not display the Back-in-Stock form because the platform continues treating them as available.

Validate the Notification Flow

We review the completed flow structure and send test previews to up to three client-provided email addresses.

A live restock test can be completed when the store has a suitable test product and the client approves the required inventory changes.

The test confirms the standard Klaviyo configuration but cannot guarantee delivery to every mailbox, continuous inventory accuracy, or identical rendering in every email application.

Activation and Handoff

After final approval, we publish the Back-in-Stock form and place the flow email in the approved Manual or Live status.

The client receives a concise implementation summary identifying:

  • Store configured
  • Form and button created
  • Flow trigger selected
  • Back in Stock delay configured
  • Notification settings applied
  • Email created
  • Test product used
  • Testing completed
  • Status at handoff
  • Any unresolved store or platform limitation
  • Recommended next steps

The Klaviyo account, ecommerce store, customer information, inventory data, email content, and associated business assets remain owned and controlled by the client.

Client Requirements

Before work begins, the client must provide:

  • Administrator access to the Klaviyo account
  • Administrator or collaborator access to Shopify or BigCommerce
  • A functioning Klaviyo ecommerce integration
  • Synchronized product and inventory information
  • One approved out-of-stock test product or variant
  • Information about inventory and restocking practices
  • Approved sender name and email address
  • Brand guidelines and logo files
  • Approved button and form wording
  • Marketing opt-in instructions, when applicable
  • Up to three addresses for email testing
  • Timely feedback and final approval

Missing access, catalog problems, incompatible product settings, theme conflicts, or delayed approvals may extend the delivery schedule.

Delivery and Revisions

Standard delivery is 7–10 business days after all required access, information, brand assets, and a suitable test product are received.

Two consolidated revision rounds are included when submitted within seven days of the initial delivery and remain within the original service scope.

Revisions may address the included button, form styling, email content, inventory settings, and standard flow configuration. A new form strategy, additional emails, another storefront, or materially different design direction requires a separate service.
