Service Scope
Klaviyo Browse Abandonment Flow Setup is a fixed-scope automation service for one business, one Klaviyo account, one connected e-commerce store, and one browse abandonment flow containing up to two automated emails.
The service uses the Klaviyo Viewed Product metric to identify eligible visitors who viewed a product page but did not proceed to checkout or complete an order.
The flow includes dynamic viewed-product content, checkout and purchase exclusions, re-entry controls, fixed time delays, limited conditional logic, testing, activation, and implementation handoff.
Understand Who Can Enter the Flow
Browse abandonment automation does not identify every anonymous website visitor.
A person normally must be recognizable to Klaviyo through an existing profile, cookie, signup interaction, prior email engagement, checkout activity, customer login, or another supported identification method.
Eligibility can also be affected by:
- Browser cookie settings
- Customer privacy settings
- Marketing consent
- Analytics consent
- Geographic privacy requirements
- Shopify Customer Privacy configuration
- Ad blockers
- Browser restrictions
- Klaviyo profile status
- Onsite-tracking availability
The service does not guarantee that every product-page visitor will be identified or enter the flow.
Review the E-commerce Connection
We review one existing connection between Klaviyo and the client’s e-commerce store.
The review confirms whether Klaviyo is visibly receiving the standard data required for the flow, including:
- Viewed Product
- Started Checkout
- Placed Order
- Product name
- Product image
- Product price
- Product URL
- Identifiable profile information
Installing or rebuilding the store integration, repairing catalog synchronization, modifying checkout behavior, or developing custom tracking is not included.
Review Onsite Tracking
We review the visible status of the existing Klaviyo onsite-tracking configuration.
For Shopify stores, Viewed Product tracking generally depends on the Klaviyo app embed being active in the current published theme.
A theme replacement, disabled app embed, privacy configuration, custom storefront, or unsupported product-page structure may prevent events from being recorded correctly.
Standard readiness review is included. Custom JavaScript installation, theme modification, headless-store tracking, cookie-platform configuration, and technical tracking repair require separate services.
Validate the Viewed Product Metric
We confirm that Klaviyo has received recent Viewed Product events from identifiable visitors.
The available event data is reviewed for standard properties such as:
- Product title
- Product image
- Product price
- Product URL
- Product identifier
- Product category or collection
- Another available product property
The exact properties depend on the connected store and integration.
If recent testable Viewed Product events are unavailable, flow production may pause until tracking is corrected.
Configure the Viewed Product Trigger
We create one metric-triggered Klaviyo flow using Viewed Product as the sole entry trigger.
The trigger responds when an identifiable profile generates a qualifying product-view event.
The service does not include separate triggers for:
- Active on Site
- Viewed Collection
- Submitted Search
- Added to Cart
- Started Checkout
- Custom browsing events
Those behaviors require separate flows or expanded automation work.
Configure the Checkout-Exclusion Filter
We configure a standard filter intended to stop browse reminders when Klaviyo records that the visitor has started checkout after entering the flow.
This prevents the browse flow from continuing to send less-relevant product-view reminders after the shopper progresses into the checkout journey.
A separate abandoned cart flow can handle the later checkout stage when purchased separately.
Configure the Purchase-Exclusion Filter
We configure a standard filter intended to stop remaining browse reminders after Klaviyo records a qualifying order.
The filter generally checks that the profile has placed zero orders since entering the flow.
Its effectiveness depends on accurate and timely Started Checkout and Placed Order data from the connected store.
Missing, delayed, duplicated, or custom events may affect flow behavior.
Configure Re-entry Controls
We configure one standard re-entry control to reduce excessive repeated entry when the same person views products frequently.
The control may prevent a profile from re-entering the flow for an approved number of days after a previous entry.
The final re-entry period is selected according to the client’s approved sending strategy and other active Klaviyo automations.
Complex frequency-management systems and coordination across multiple unrelated flows are not included.
Build the Flow Architecture
The service includes up to eight total components after the Viewed Product trigger.
The included components may consist of:
- Up to two email actions
- Up to two fixed time delays
- Up to one conditional split
- Up to two supported profile or list update actions
- One additional approved standard component
The exact combination is determined by the approved flow plan and cannot exceed eight post-trigger components.
Configure Browse Abandonment Email One
The first email is configured after one approved delay following the product-view event.
This message may:
- Remind the visitor about the viewed product
- Display the product image
- Display the product name
- Display the available product price
- Link back to the product page
- Highlight one approved product or store benefit
- Present a clear return-to-product call to action
The email uses client-provided content and available event data.
Configure Browse Abandonment Email Two
The optional second email is configured after the next approved fixed delay.
This message may:
- Reinforce interest in the viewed product
- Address a common purchase concern
- Include approved social proof
- Present store or product benefits
- Include an approved static incentive
- Repeat the return-to-product action
A third email or separate product-nurture sequence requires an expanded service.
Configure Dynamic Viewed-Product Content
We configure a dynamic section using the product information contained in the Viewed Product event.
Depending on the available data, the section may display:
- Product image
- Product title
- Product price
- Product URL
- Product category
- Another standard product property
The dynamic variables are selected from actual event data available inside the client’s Klaviyo account.
Custom event schemas, malformed data repair, unsupported variable development, and external API requests are not included.
Configure the Product Return Link
The primary call-to-action button is configured to return the recipient to the relevant product page using the available product URL.
This flow does not restore a cart because the visitor may not have added the product to a cart or started checkout.
Cart reconstruction and checkout recovery belong to the separate Klaviyo Abandoned Cart Flow Setup service.
Configure Fixed Time Delays
The flow includes up to two fixed time delays:
- One delay before the first email
- One delay before the optional second email
The final timing is approved by the client and considered alongside other campaigns and flows already active in the account.
Predictive send time, extensive timezone branching, behavior-based waiting, and multiple timing experiments are not included.
Configure One Conditional Split
We can configure up to one standard conditional split when supported by the available data.
The split may use a condition such as:
- Product category
- Product identifier
- Product price
- Existing customer status
- Email marketing consent
- Customer location
- Another available profile or event property
The information must already exist and be consistently available in Klaviyo.
Nested branches, multiple product paths, predictive conditions, and large catalog-specific logic systems are not included.
Configure Profile or List Actions
The service includes up to two supported profile-property or list actions when required by the approved flow plan.
Actions may include:
- Updating one approved profile property
- Adding an eligible profile to one approved list
- Removing a profile from one approved list
- Applying another standard Klaviyo-supported update
External CRM updates, API calls, webhook development, and cross-platform data transformation are not included.
Assemble the Email Content
We place the client’s final approved content into one existing template or standard Klaviyo layout for each included message.
The service includes placement of up to eight client-provided supporting images across the flow, in addition to the dynamically displayed viewed-product image.
Assembly may include:
- Headlines
- Body copy
- Dynamic product section
- Buttons
- Text links
- Supporting images
- Product or store benefits
- Social proof
- Contact information
- Footer elements
Copywriting, custom template design, photography, illustration, and advanced image editing are not included.
Configure Subject Lines and Preview Text
We configure one approved subject line and one preview-text version for each included email.
The service therefore includes up to:
- Two subject lines
- Two preview-text versions
Subject-line alternatives, professional copywriting, variation packages, and A/B testing are not included.
Add Basic Personalization
We can configure basic profile or event personalization using data already available in Klaviyo.
This may include:
- First name
- Viewed product name
- Another approved standard property
Fallback content is used where practical.
Complex conditional personalization and individualized content strategy are not included.
Add a Client-Provided Incentive
One client-provided static discount code may be placed in the approved email content.
The client must supply:
- Final discount code
- Discount value
- Expiration information
- Product eligibility
- Restrictions
- Destination URL
- Required disclaimer text
Dynamic coupon generation, discount strategy, and troubleshooting store promotion rules are not included.
Review Consent and Privacy Controls
We review the approved email-eligibility instructions for the flow.
Browse tracking and flow eligibility may be restricted when visitors have not provided the consent required by the store’s privacy configuration or applicable law.
For Shopify stores, customer privacy settings may prevent Klaviyo from recording onsite activity for certain visitors in the EU, EEA, United Kingdom, and Switzerland unless appropriate consent has been provided.
The client remains responsible for selecting its consent policy and determining the legal basis for sending each message.
Configure Sender and Tracking Settings
We configure or review the approved:
- Sender name
- Sender email address
- Reply-to address
- Standard open tracking
- Standard click tracking
- UTM tracking
- Smart Sending setting
- Unsubscribe functionality
Sending-domain authentication, DNS changes, attribution consulting, and Google Analytics configuration are not included.
Preview the Dynamic Emails
Each included email is previewed with available Viewed Product event data.
The review covers:
- Product image
- Product name
- Product price
- Product link
- Subject line
- Preview text
- Sender information
- Personalization fallback
- Supporting images
- Buttons
- Footer content
- Desktop presentation
- Mobile presentation
The preview can only display properties available in the selected event.
Complete a Controlled Product-View Test
We complete one controlled test using the functioning store and up to three client-provided test profiles or inboxes.
The test may include:
- Identifying a test profile
- Visiting an approved product page
- Confirming that Viewed Product is recorded
- Reviewing flow-trigger eligibility
- Checking checkout and purchase exclusions
- Previewing the dynamic product content
- Reviewing the expected message path
One standard correction attempt is included for an in-scope flow configuration issue.
Tracking, integration, privacy, or event-data failures require separate technical work.

- Purchase-exclusion filter

- Time delays
- Conditional split

- Tracking settings
