Connect Store Activity to Customer Marketing
Service Scope
Klaviyo Shopify & WooCommerce Integration is a fixed-scope technical service for one business, one Klaviyo account, and one existing e-commerce store operating on either Shopify or WooCommerce.
The service installs and authorizes Klaviyo’s native integration, configures the approved synchronization settings, initiates historical data synchronization, enables supported onsite tracking, maps email subscribers to one Klaviyo list, and validates the primary profile, behavioral, and order events.
Although both platforms appear in the product name, one purchase covers either one Shopify store or one WooCommerce store—not both.
Review the Existing Store Environment
Before connecting the platforms, we review the store environment directly related to the Klaviyo integration.
The review may cover:
- Store platform and primary domain
- Current Klaviyo account
- Existing Klaviyo integration status
- Installed Shopify applications or WordPress plugins
- Current email subscriber collection
- Checkout marketing-consent settings
- Existing onsite tracking
- Customer and order history
- Store currency
- Product catalog availability
- Existing email platforms connected to the store
- Obvious caching, firewall, redirect, or permission conflicts
This is a focused integration-readiness review and not a complete store, theme, database, security, analytics, or conversion audit.
Shopify Integration Setup
For an approved Shopify store, we install or authorize the official Klaviyo application and connect it to the correct Klaviyo account.
The standard configuration may include:
- Shopify-to-Klaviyo customer synchronization
- Customer profile and order data
- Email subscriber synchronization
- One approved email subscriber list
- Product and catalog data
- Shopify Markets catalog synchronization when already configured
- Klaviyo-to-Shopify profile synchronization when approved
- Shopify app embed activation
- Onsite behavioral tracking
- Supported order and delivery events
Two-way profile synchronization is activated only after the client approves which profiles and properties should be returned to Shopify.
Synchronizing all Klaviyo profiles to Shopify may create new Shopify customer records, including profiles that have never purchased from the store. This setting is not enabled automatically without client approval.
WooCommerce Integration Setup
For an approved WooCommerce store, we install, activate, and authorize the official Klaviyo extension.
The standard configuration may include:
- Klaviyo extension installation
- Connection to the correct Klaviyo account
- WooCommerce customer synchronization
- Customer and order data
- Email subscriber collection at checkout
- One approved email subscriber list
- Onsite activity tracking
- Product and order event synchronization
- Historical synchronization initiation
- Optional standard-currency conversion setting
The website must use a supported WooCommerce and WordPress environment and permit installation of the required extension.
Caching plugins, redirect plugins, security systems, firewall rules, hosting restrictions, outdated software, and theme conflicts may interfere with authorization or data collection. Resolution of a third-party infrastructure problem is not included.
Synchronize Customer Profiles
The native integration creates or updates Klaviyo profiles using the customer information supported by the selected platform.
Available information may include:
- Email address
- First and last name
- Phone number
- Customer location
- Billing and shipping information
- Store customer ID
- Customer tags
- Order history
- Marketing consent status
- Locale information
- Platform-specific profile properties
The exact fields synchronized depend on the platform, store configuration, customer record, and Klaviyo’s current integration capabilities.
Properties controlled by the store may overwrite corresponding values in Klaviyo during a future synchronization. Client-approved data ownership and sync-direction settings are therefore reviewed before activation.
Map Email Marketing Consent
We configure one supported email-subscriber pathway from the store to one approved Klaviyo list.
For Shopify, this may include customers who accept email marketing during checkout or through supported Shopify signup forms.
For WooCommerce, this may include an email marketing consent checkbox on the checkout page connected to the approved Klaviyo list.
The client must provide and approve:
- The subscriber list
- Checkout checkbox language
- Consent disclosure
- Single or double opt-in selection
- Geographic availability
- Any privacy-policy references
Customer records and marketing permission are not the same thing. A customer may exist as a Klaviyo profile without being eligible to receive marketing email.
KizilCo does not determine whether the client’s consent language or collection process satisfies a particular law or regulation.
Initiate Historical Data Synchronization
We initiate the historical synchronization supported by the selected platform.
For Shopify, Klaviyo initially synchronizes recent store data and then begins processing the remaining available historical customer, order, and product information.
For WooCommerce, the integration displays the progress of its available historical data synchronization after connection.
Historical synchronization time depends on:
- Number of customers
- Number of orders
- Product and variant volume
- Store history
- Platform API availability
- Klaviyo processing time
- Hosting performance
- Third-party restrictions
Large stores may require several days to complete synchronization. This service initiates and reviews the standard synchronization but does not guarantee that every historical record will be accepted or become available by a specific time.
Connect the Product Catalog
We confirm that the available store catalog begins synchronizing with Klaviyo and review the resulting product connection.
The review may include:
- Product availability
- Product names
- Product identifiers
- Product URLs
- Images
- Prices
- Variants
- Categories or collections
- Catalog source
- Primary storefront URL
Catalog data is controlled by the connected store. Product information should generally be corrected at its original source so future synchronization does not overwrite a manual change made only inside Klaviyo.
Product-feed strategy, custom recommendations, multilingual catalog reconstruction, custom catalog development, and repair of malformed store data are not included.
Enable Onsite Tracking
We configure the standard onsite tracking supported by the selected platform.
Depending on the platform and store configuration, tracked activity may include:
- Active on Site
- Viewed Product
- Viewed Collection
- Submitted Search
- Added to Cart
- Started Checkout or Checkout Started
For Shopify, the Klaviyo app embed and approved behavioral-event settings are enabled.
For WooCommerce, the Klaviyo extension provides the supported onsite tracking after the store is correctly connected.
Onsite events generally depend on Klaviyo being able to identify the visitor. Anonymous visitors may not immediately appear as known profiles.
Cookie restrictions, consent-management settings, private browsing, cleared browser storage, ad blockers, customer privacy settings, and regional privacy rules may prevent or delay certain events.
Synchronize Order Events
We review the primary commerce events generated by the selected integration.
Available events may include:
- Started Checkout or Checkout Started
- Placed Order
- Ordered Product
- Fulfilled Order
- Partially Fulfilled Order
- Cancelled Order
- Refunded Order
- Confirmed Shipment
- Delivered Shipment
- Marked Out for Delivery
The exact events vary between Shopify and WooCommerce.
Some fulfillment or delivery events depend on the store’s order statuses, shipping provider, carrier support, and installed fulfillment applications.
This service validates the standard event structure but does not redesign order workflows or modify external fulfillment systems.
Review Cart and Checkout Data
We review the available checkout and cart information contained in supported events.
This information may include:
- Cart value
- Currency
- Product names
- Product identifiers
- Product images
- Variants
- Quantities
- Categories
- Discounts
- Coupons
- Shipping method
- Checkout URL
- Cart-rebuild information when supported
The presence of an event does not mean that an abandoned-cart or checkout flow has been created. Marketing automation setup is a separate service.
Prevent Duplicate Subscriber or Message Behavior
Where visible, we review existing store email settings and connected marketing platforms for obvious duplication risks.
This may include:
- A previous email platform still connected to the store
- Multiple subscriber-list destinations
- Duplicate checkout consent collection
- Existing Shopify abandoned-checkout notifications
- Existing WooCommerce marketing plugins
- Multiple tracking snippets
- Legacy Added to Cart code
We identify visible concerns and provide recommendations. Removal, migration, or reconstruction of another provider’s integration requires separate approval and may require a separate service.
Controlled Integration Testing
After configuration, we perform controlled testing of the supported integration functions.
Testing may include:
- Test profile creation or identification
- Email subscriber-list mapping
- Active on Site event
- Viewed Product event
- Added to Cart event
- Checkout event
- Product and cart information
- Placed Order event
- Order profile association
- Consent status
- Available fulfillment or cancellation behavior
When the client provides a test gateway, test mode, or no-charge coupon, one controlled order may be used for validation.
If a safe no-charge testing method is unavailable, we validate the integration using recent legitimate events already available in the account. Product charges, payment-processing fees, taxes, and shipping fees are not included.
Review the Completed Integration
After testing, we review the available integration status inside Klaviyo.
The review covers:
- Connected store
- Integration status
- Historical sync progress
- Recent profile activity
- Available commerce metrics
- Product catalog status
- Subscriber-list connection
- Onsite tracking status
- Obvious sync or authorization errors
- Unresolved third-party limitations
One standard round of in-scope integration troubleshooting is included.
Implementation Summary
The client receives a concise implementation summary identifying:
- The Klaviyo account connected
- The store and platform connected
- The synchronization settings selected
- The subscriber list used
- The onsite tracking enabled
- The profile and commerce events reviewed
- The product catalog status
- The historical synchronization status
- The controlled testing completed
- Any unresolved third-party issue
- Recommended next steps
The Klaviyo account, Shopify or WooCommerce store, profiles, orders, products, customer data, and associated business assets remain owned and controlled by the client.
Client Requirements
Before configuration begins, the client must provide:
- Administrator access to the Klaviyo account
- Administrator access to one Shopify store or WordPress/WooCommerce website
- Permission to install and authorize the official integration
- The correct primary store domain
- One approved email subscriber list
- Final email consent language
- The approved synchronization direction

Delivery and Revisions
Standard delivery is 5–7 business days after all required access, information, and approvals are received.
Historical synchronization, platform processing, large catalogs, store API limitations, hosting restrictions, application conflicts, and third-party technical issues may extend the final validation period.
One consolidated correction round is included when submitted within seven days of delivery and remains within the original integration scope.
A different store, additional platform, additional subscriber list, custom data requirement, or materially different synchronization configuration is treated as additional work.
