Convert Store Activity Into Timely Follow-Up
Service Scope
Mailchimp E-commerce Automation Setup is a fixed-scope service for one business, one Mailchimp account, one audience, one already connected supported e-commerce store, and one approved shopping-related automation flow.
The service includes one shopping-activity trigger, up to three automated emails, up to twelve configured steps after the trigger, time delays, conditional rules, supported contact actions, purchase-aware content, controlled testing, two consolidated revision rounds, activation, and implementation handoff.
This service configures one e-commerce automation use case. It does not create every available store automation or replace the store’s transactional email system.
Confirm the Store Connection
Before automation work begins, we review the visible status of one existing Mailchimp e-commerce connection.
The review covers:
- Selected store
- Connected Mailchimp audience
- Integration status
- Recent sync activity
- Visible products
- Available customer information
- Available order history
- Shopping events required by the selected trigger
- Existing e-commerce automations
- Obvious data-readiness concerns
The connected store must already be sending the required data to Mailchimp.
Installing a new store integration, developing a custom API connection, repairing historical synchronization, changing checkout code, rebuilding product feeds, or troubleshooting unrelated store problems is not included.
Select One E-commerce Automation Objective
We configure one approved e-commerce automation objective.
Available objectives may include:
- Abandoned-cart recovery
- Post-purchase follow-up
- Any-product purchase follow-up
- Specific-product purchase follow-up
- Customer win-back
- Time-since-last-purchase follow-up
- Product review request
- Purchase-based customer tagging
- Another supported shopping-activity follow-up
Available use cases depend on the connected platform, active Mailchimp plan, synced store data, contact status, and supported triggers.
Order confirmations, shipping notifications, invoices, cancellations, refunds, and other transactional notification systems are outside this service.
Map the E-commerce Flow
We prepare one practical flow map before implementation.
The map identifies:
- The shopping-activity trigger
- Contact eligibility
- Entry requirements
- Email actions
- Time delays
- Conditional paths
- Contact-management actions
- Purchase or cart information used
- Completion points
- Supported exit behavior
The approved map becomes the implementation baseline.
A different e-commerce objective or substantially different flow structure requested after approval requires a separate service.
Configure One Shopping-Activity Trigger
We configure one approved trigger using data supplied by the connected store.
The trigger may be based on a supported event such as:
- Abandons cart
- Abandons cart with selected products
- Buys any product
- Buys a specific product
- Time since last purchase
- Customer churn risk
- Predicted purchase timing
- Eligibility for a review request
- Another supported store event
Some triggers require specific store integrations, sufficient historical data, predictive features, or particular Mailchimp plans.
An abandoned-cart trigger cannot be combined with another entry trigger inside the same Mailchimp flow. If abandoned cart is selected, the automation will use that event as its only entry trigger.
Review Contact Eligibility
We review how contact status affects the selected automation.
Recipient eligibility may depend on:
- Subscribed status
- Non-subscribed customer status
- The selected trigger
- The type of email being sent
- The number of emails in the flow
- The connected-store integration
- Mailchimp’s platform rules
For an abandoned-cart flow, Mailchimp may allow an eligible customer to receive the initial cart message even if the contact is not subscribed to ongoing marketing. Additional marketing emails generally require the contact to have an eligible subscribed status.
The client remains responsible for recipient permission, marketing practices, and legal compliance.
Consent collection and legal review are not included.
Configure Up to Three Automated Emails
We create up to three emails inside the approved e-commerce automation.
Each email is assembled using an existing Mailchimp template or supported standard layout and may contain up to six approved content sections.
Basic implementation includes:
- Client-provided copy
- Up to six client-provided images per email
- Headings and paragraphs
- Buttons and destination links
- Existing brand colors
- Relevant store content
- Standard merge tags
- Required footer information
- Basic mobile formatting
Custom template design, from-scratch HTML development, copywriting, translation, and production of missing creative assets are not included.
Configure Product or Cart Content
Where supported by the selected trigger, we configure the appropriate Mailchimp e-commerce content blocks.
These may include:
- Abandoned cart contents
- Return-to-cart button
- Product image
- Product name
- Product price
- Product link
- Purchased-product information
- Other supported store data
An abandoned-cart email must use the required Mailchimp cart content and return-to-cart functionality. Custom-coded templates may not be compatible with that email type.
Product information is supplied by the connected store. KizilCo does not manually recreate or repair incorrect product data inside the automation.
Configure Offer or Discount Content
A client-provided promotional offer or existing discount code can be placed in the approved emails.
The client must provide:
- Final discount code
- Offer terms
- Expiration information
- Eligible products
- Required disclaimers
- Approved destination links
Creation of store discounts, unique discount-code systems, inventory rules, checkout logic, and offer profitability analysis are not included.
KizilCo does not guarantee that a discount will apply correctly unless the client has already created and tested it inside the store.
Configure Up to Three Time Delays
We configure up to three approved time-delay rules.
Time delays may be used to:
- Wait before the first recovery email
- Separate follow-up messages
- Allow time for a purchase
- Avoid sending several emails too quickly
- Control the pace of a post-purchase sequence
- Establish a customer win-back period
The selected delay values depend on the approved use case and the options available in Mailchimp.
Advanced send-time optimization and individual customer scheduling are not included.
Configure Up to Two Conditional Splits
We configure up to two supported conditional split rules where different customer paths are required.
Conditions may use available data such as:
- Purchase completion
- Product purchased
- Product category
- Order value
- Tags
- Audience fields
- Email engagement
- Other supported store or contact information
Conditional accuracy depends on the completeness and timing of the data received from the connected store.
Advanced nested decision trees, predictive modeling, percentage-split experiments, and more than two conditional splits are not included.
Configure Contact-Management Actions
We configure up to three supported tag or contact-update actions.
These actions may include:
- Add a customer tag
- Remove a customer tag
- Update an approved audience field
- Identify completion of the flow
- Mark an approved lifecycle stage
Creation of a new CRM architecture, synchronization with an external CRM, contact deletion, archiving, unsubscribing, and custom API updates are not included.
Configure Sender and Inbox Settings
We configure and review the primary sender settings for each included email.
This may include:
- From name
- From email address
- Reply-to address
- Subject line
- Preview text
One subject line and one preview-text version are refined for each email using the client’s approved content.
The sending address must be verified and available inside Mailchimp. Domain authentication and DNS configuration are not included.
Review Links, Tracking, and Footer Elements
We add and review the approved links and available tracking settings.
The review may cover:
- Return-to-cart links
- Product links
- Button destinations
- Text hyperlinks
- Mailchimp click tracking
- Available open tracking
- Existing e-commerce tracking
- Existing Google Analytics tracking
- Required unsubscribe link
- Physical mailing address
- Preference-management link
Mailchimp and the store must already be correctly connected for purchase and revenue reporting.
Custom attribution, analytics integration, reporting dashboards, and revenue reconciliation are not included.
Complete a Mobile-Readiness Review
Each included email is reviewed using Mailchimp’s available desktop and mobile preview tools.
The review covers:
- Content order
- Product and cart presentation
- Text readability
- Image placement
- Button visibility
- Section spacing
- Footer presentation
- Obvious mobile-formatting problems
Rendering may differ between email clients, devices, and dark-mode settings. Identical appearance in every inbox cannot be guaranteed.
Test the Emails
We complete controlled test sends of the included emails to up to three client-provided addresses.
Email testing covers:
- Subject and preview presentation
- Sender information
- Copy and image placement
- Button and text links
- Product or cart content where testable
- Standard merge tags
- Required footer information
- Desktop and mobile readability
Dynamic cart, order, and product information may not populate in an ordinary test email. A controlled store event may be required to verify the complete behavior.
Complete One Controlled Store-Action Test
With client approval, we complete one controlled test using the selected store action where technically practical.
The test may involve:
- Creating and abandoning a test cart
- Completing a test purchase
- Purchasing an approved test product
- Applying an approved test tag
- Confirming that an eligible store event reaches Mailchimp
- Reviewing the flow entry and next action
The client must provide any required test account, test product, payment method, discount, and written permission.
Product costs, taxes, payment-processing fees, shipping charges, refunds, and store-side order cancellation remain the client’s responsibility.
Some long-term triggers, predictive events, and historical purchase conditions cannot be reproduced during a short implementation project. Those conditions may be validated structurally instead.
Prevent Duplicate Store Automations
We review the visible account and connected store for an obvious existing automation that could send a duplicate message for the same event.
Where an obvious conflict is identified, we notify the client before activation.
Disabling or modifying an automation outside Mailchimp requires client approval and may be outside the service scope.
KizilCo cannot identify undisclosed automations operating through another application, custom system, or separate account.
Obtain Final Approval
Before activation, the client must provide written approval confirming:
- The connected store
- The Mailchimp audience
- The shopping trigger
- The flow structure
- The email content
- The sender information
- The time delays
- The conditional rules
- The contact actions
- The product or cart content
- The links and footer information
Once approved, the flow is considered ready for activation.
Activate the Automation
After final written approval, we activate the e-commerce automation inside the client’s Mailchimp account.
Eligible store contacts can begin entering the flow according to the approved trigger, their contact status, available store data, and Mailchimp’s platform rules.
Changes to triggers, rules, and actions after activation may require the flow to be paused. Post-activation modification and ongoing management are not included.
Implementation Handoff
The client receives a concise implementation summary identifying:
- The automation name
- The connected store
- The selected audience
- The shopping trigger
- The configured steps
- The included emails
- The time delays
- The conditional rules
- The contact actions
- The test status
- The activation status
- Any known limitation
- The location of available reports
- Practical instructions for pausing or reviewing the flow
The Mailchimp account, automation, store data, audience, emails, and client-owned business assets remain owned and controlled by the client.
Client Requirements
Before work begins, the client must provide:
- Administrator access to Mailchimp
- Administrator access to the selected store
- One already connected supported store
- An active Mailchimp plan supporting the approved flow
- One prepared Mailchimp audience
- Visible and current product and order data
- One approved e-commerce objective
- Final approved copy for up to three emails
- Up to six final images per email
- Complete product and destination links
- From name and sending address
- Reply-to address
- Accurate business and footer information
- Up to three unique test addresses
- Permission to complete one controlled store action
- Timely consolidated feedback
- Written approval before activation
The Mailchimp account and connected store must be in good standing and technically able to produce the selected e-commerce event.
Delivery and Revisions
Standard delivery is 10–15 business days after all required access, content, assets, store data, and automation instructions are received.
Two consolidated revision rounds are included when submitted within seven days of the corresponding delivery and remain within the approved flow map and original quantities.
A different store, additional trigger, additional email, new e-commerce objective, replacement content set, or materially different flow structure is treated as a separate service.
Integration failures, missing product data, delayed store events, plan limitations, client approvals, domain problems, and third-party technical issues may extend the delivery timeline.
